when there is no where to go
September 16, 2008
the facade of religion has broke open and apart. what do you see in there? a wooden buddha? a bodhisattva ideal? an arahant’s liberation? something more to grasp? or another opportunity for your letting go?
the floodgate of spiritual traditions, ideas and icons has broke open and rushing. what do you see? an outside god or yourself? a god within or a confused upset world? something more to grasp? or something bigger to embrace?
the barricades of your social-emotional egoic self has collapsed. what else remains? a painful wanting to give it all up and die? or a helpless surrendering to what never dies?
Naming is a delusional activity. Attaching to a name of status, profession and tradition does not make you real, safe or loved. You are standing at the edge of a cliff – will you jump and follow the wind? What if you fall?
The test is here when your heart is open. Purified by tears and endless pining for Source. Will you stand to the ground and hang on? Will you kneel and hold palms together?
No one can tell you the answers to these questions. What will you do? Somewhere there is a small voice. Hush, be quiet and listen.
