Healing gifts from mountains and streams
September 8, 2008
One of the most intimate encounters with nature at Crestone was the gift of stones from Crestone mountains. I meant to pick them to give away to friends, but as they sit at my window sill, I can’t bear to part with them. I pore over each rock, amazed by the colors, stripes and sparkles that made them with the passing of a thousand year. As i request for such gifts from Father Mountain, I promise to remember the sacredness of Mother Earth.
When i chanced upon small pieces of gemstones at a certain Red Horse shop (that sells items unique to Native American cultures), i can’t help pick up a few. I almost bought all of their agate slabs. Each stone sends out a certain vibration, meaning it’s alive on its own, and it’s true when i get to dowse on them. Strong energy.
I begin to love these minerals.

The first known stone given as a gift to me was a blue sodalite, by Rick P. I especially like the blue/white wavy stripes in them, simulating a sense of mystery and deep calm. Like milky way, like dark night of soul. Months later at Vesak, i bought beads of sodalite and strung them into a mala (prayer beads).
The qualities are exactly what i need:
Sodalite is a stone of logic, rationality, and efficiency.
It is a stone of truth, and brings this to all communications.
It is particularly useful for honesty of emotions.
It increases intelligence, knowledge and learning, and can unite the logical with the spiritual.

sodalite is a mineral not a stone, it has a tetrahedral crystalline structure,
