by way of ‘chance’ more than ‘choice’ – due to indecisiveness,  i found myself attending the initiation of White Dzambala conducted by H.E. Garchen Rinpoche. I wasn’t sure how i want to relate myself to deities of wealth, whether it is Dzambalas or Lord Ganesha, and i think it has more to do with my relationship with money and wealth. Somehow on the same day, before the initiation, a friend told me about her new interest-focus in trading in foreign currencies. I am tempted.

White Dzambala is the manifestation of the compassion of Kuan Yin (Chenrezig). Through doing this practice, one is able to receive His blessings and enjoy an abundance of wealth. One is free from poverty and all economic oppression. Practitioners should generate the altruistic intention of compassion (Bodhicitta), and practice generosity. This practice can remove poverty within the six realms, and increase one’s merits, wisdom and lifespan. All their material and spiritual needs will be met. ———– extracted from here

There is ‘no free lunch’ anywhere in the world. We have to work for the fortunes we enjoy, by way of giving and generosity. We work hard for a company or business (ie. give), we then receive a paycheck and bonuses. In ordinary times, we give gifts, advice, our time and attention to others, and we will also receive. This is the law of mutual interdependence.

The foundation of the Dzambala practice is the same as other practices, which is based on the
(1) altruistic intention to benefit other people & beings
(2) intention to realise the ultimate truth or the nature of ourselves
(3) commitment to be mindful of our intentions and to practise diligently

At first glance, one may think that this practice is offered to gratify the greeds of people. The practitioner who genuinely gears his actions towards the above 3 intentions will naturally act from a heart of non-egoistic giving, generosity and equanimity.

I feel that there must be a secret lesson in every practice. With Dzambala which is specifically focussed on wealth, i am guessing that we are learning the fundamental spiritual lessons:

(a)     to transform the blind reliance on material wealth, good health, to inner wealth like fearlessness, wisdom, compassion, love. These spiritual nourishments are assets that we carry from lifetime to lifetime, which are more reliable

(b)     to be at ease in the natural principle of Giving and Receiving.. mutual exchanges of wealth. That we are in One Big Market of energy (wealth) exchange, and to recognise that benefitting others is also benefitting ourselves. To let of of egoistic possessiveness and attachment. To delight in giving and taking.
