Arya Tara: Of compassion & long life
June 15, 2008

Following the White Dzambala initiation, I have also went to the White Tara initiation on the following day. Not truly with the intention and devotion wanting to participate, I was there coz I was there for another event i was helping to organise. But i was grateful i attended.
I attended the teachings where Rinpoche gave a succint explanation to why we need to do any spiritual practice, and the (psychological) system to the Vajrayana practices. Although it was a tedious lecture, with Rinpoche speaking in Tibetan and subsequently translated into English and Mandarin one after the other, it gave me new understanding :
( i ) the progress of reciting mantra leads one to hear all sounds as sound of the mantra, which contains the heart-message of the figure-icon (usu. Bodhisattva)
( ii ) mandala offering is the whole-hearted recognition that all illusory existence/phenomena (incl. 6 senses & input) is undependable, and that we willingly offer all these to the Bodhisattva. Pure Giving, Total letting go.
( iii ) generation & dissolution stages of the sadhana correspond with the birth & death of one’s life, so that at the end of it, we realise the true nature of Emptiness (and the illusory nature of birth/life vs death )
( iv ) generation stage also means the generation of all manifestations/appearances that we mistakenly believe to be real, which are really like the (phenomenon of ) rainbow.
