Bought the book, Inner Wisdom by Louise Hay for a friend as birthday present. I glimpsed through, rejoicing the gems of insight and affirmative messages contained in it. This was the second time I browsed through her books, and each time never fails to open my heart. I thought it is a beautiful gift for anyone.

Yet I asked myself, would I buy one for myself ? Would I practise the affirmations so that my mind can thus be transformed, and my heart be open and joyous forever?

This is similar to the Buddhist metta meditation, and as alike all other meditation, you reap whatever you sow. ie. You are as transformed as much as your effort & time put into doing the practices.

And I am a lazy practitioner.

The world/ Life can be so wonderful, through transforming or purifying the lens we see, and it is as realistic as the ‘Reality’ we know it. Yes it is some make-believe, and which bit of our neuro perception about reality is not!?

There is a difference when we say we want to seek and see the truest of the Truth, spiritually speaking, including ugly truths. My experience is that, when we are wholly distorted and disoriented, due to our genetic, cultural, family, personal karmic biases, we are never on the path of seeking spiritual truth no matter how hard we try.

It’s only when we become more virtuous (the reasons for all the religious commandments, precepts, abstinence rules), in action and speech, that we gradually purify the lens (ie. mind) with which we can use to probe into ‘Truth’.

And mind transforming practices or positive affirmations help orientates us to a balance, an equanimity in life so that the Spirit enters a spaciousness that allows Revelations of Truth to happen.

I am lazy in using outright mind transformation tools, and that cos i am practising Centering using neutral ways like anchoring in a Name, watching passing of breath, .. tools that help in “seeing what’s here“.
